Static rope is a type of rope designed to stretch as little as possible. It’s used mainly to get up and down a rope with specific devices called ascenders and descenders. While it’s sometimes called static climbing rope really it’s just static rope. Static rope will stretch less than 5%. They’re also very strong in order to carry a person as well as a large amount of gear.
